"Move Your Body" curator's pick on the new dig.ccmixter.org

Hmmmm ................. even after we told them ElRon XChile started writing the song in the 1990s using Band-in-a-Box and the bass drum was a toilet seat lid. Here's the song description posted on ccmixter.org:
In the early 1990s, ElRon XChile gave me some midi tracks that he created using Band-in-a-Box (early computer assisted music generation software). Recently, I loaded the midi file for a listen. Then loaded “beckfords move ya body” on top and there was the beginning of a remix. After heavy editing, remix building and ElRon recording guitar tracks, most of the the bass track plus about 8 bars of piano are left from the original 1990s midi tracks. Layers of Zone’s Madrugada percussion holds the remix together. Except for some kick drum samples from Foutstone’s “funk construction kit” used as hits, the kick drum role is filled by a toilet seat cover featured in Sony’s Discrete Percussion “throne drum machine”. Used a “kill kill kill” sample in some places instead of a hihat.

Anyway, congratulation to ElRon on his creation. ElRon also got some love for his guitar improvisation.

Since we don't play in bands these days and don't have a CD or a web site, this is a small but positive step in the right direction for fish kind.

You, like Dr. Frankenstein, who string together musical body parts from different musical bodies into a musical hybrid and sparked with a new life, is as much an art as it is a skill. Y'all are very deserving of this recognition! Kudos to you!

Thanks, Prize Vector

I have equated the collaborative songwriting approach as Frankensteining. When you start with an a cappella, the process is like writing an accompaniment ... just using muisical body parts :0)

Pulled the dust cover off my Korg TR workstation recently to record a few musical body parts. Will post shortly.
