The Vikings' Darren Sharper spent his first eight NFL seasons as Brett Favre's teammate, so when the veteran safety learned in March that the quarterback planned to call it quits he was, well, skeptical.

"I'm not completely sold that he is going to retire," Sharper told KFAN Radio at the time. "Come midsummer, when everyone starts talking football and he's done about four months worth of fishing and playing golf, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear speculation that Brett Favre might be coming out of retirement."

It should be interesting to watch this play out. I predict Favre comes back, Rodgers gets hurt by the third game and Favre finishes the season.

I think Favre should be back and not even think of playing for someone else. It would feel weird like when E Smith went to play for Arizona..the uniform just doesn't look right.

I can not even fathom Favre is anything but a Packer uniform.

BTW, the impossible has happened!

It seems this year, FINALLY, Dallas gets to make a trip to Green Bay. I can hardly wait.

I think Rogers has already been hurt. Seems no one has confidence in him at all.... Well except for the organization to a point. Interesting to see how it will develop.....

I've lost any respect I had for Favre after this fiasco. How can you retire, let your backup QB get all worked up about starting, and then decide a couple of months later that you want to come back????!!!

I say the Green Bay front office should let Favre get reinstated but not with their team. Let's see how many teams would jump at the opportunity to hire an aging starting QB. He would probably demand lots of moolah and is no guarantee at this point. Who knows, he may change his mind about playing again after he gets signed by the Atlanta Falcons.

Reinstate the fool and let him take the fall somewhere else.

Great career nonetheless.

Peace!

I have a feeling Farve planned this...Vets don't want to go to all the OTAs and mini-camps. He just guessed wrong in the fact that he thought Green Bay would release him. Green Bay dosen't want Farve back..Rogers is their guy...they just don't want to be the bad guy to the fans and be responsible for Farve's release and potential signing to a division foe (The Vikings) who with Farve's signing are contenders with the the Cowboys and Packers for the NFC Champs.

Troy Aikman,,, 3 Superbowl Rings

He finished what he started, and when it was time to go--its time to go.
He retired and had no mention of returning.

"thats" what real quaterbacks do.

i think brett wanted to leave on a high note,,cant say I blame him,,,,I mean come-on,we all want more try at fame and glory
