Im looking to see if anybody knows where I can locate the dampner that used to be in my 13" Ludwig snare.
I talked with Bill about the hole I spotted on the shell,he explained to me that it was more than likely for a dampner,,now,,,where can I find one?
Anybody???

Hey... dampners ain't all bad. That's all I use (if I use any dampening at all).
But seriously... if you took a notion to try and sell that vintage drum on Ebay... having the correct dampener would add a lot to the value of it. Everyone that's ever checked out my drums with an eye towards appraising them, commented on the correct 'Ball & Bat' dampeners. They come right after 'Badges' as a 'gotta have it' item.

Very true, in terms of keeping the original kit/parts does keep the value intact.
However, from strictly a sound perspective, I personally have never liked the results. Sometimes, the exact point of where you decide to place dampners of any type has an effect on the drum resonance. A fixed dampner is limiting.

2 reasons I decided to put the dampner in the Ludwig:
1. Theres a snare drum at a pawn shop I looked at,it had the dampner in it,I really like the tightness it gave it.
2. I want it
