Just got this one in today off E-bay. It's a brand spankin new Pearl 14 x 6.5" Sensitone Elite aluminum snare. Got the heads cranked way up so they can seat properly. Tomorrow, I'll re-tune so I can blast away. Anyways, here are a few pics.......enjoy.

hey...

Nice looking snare drum. I'm a big fan of the aluminum (brushed) look. Got one myself. Why don't you bring it to the jam Wednesday at Chic's? I'd like to hear it.

What kind of head and snare are you using on the bottom? I run a Remo coated Emperor on the top and a coated Ambassador on the snare side and a 42 strand (power) snare. It gives a sound I love.

I'm hoping to run across a snare like the one in the image below someday. They're pricey!!

It comes stock with a Remo coated ambassador batter, and a clear ambassador-snare on the reso side with Pearl SN-1420I 20 strand snares. I just started to fiddle with it but so far it's sounds really good. You can crank it up high or tune it low for a really good punch. However, it's got some overtones, but I think the heads haven't fully seated yet. I've always used Evans, but these seem to do the trick.

A coated Amb on the snare side?........interesting.

That snare in the pic yours? Looks like an old single ply Ludwig. I think my next snare is going to be one of Pearls' Maple free-floaters.

Wed at Chics??

It is... pre 1968 with the black oyster pearl finish and the Ludwig badge (or keystone). It would match the rest of my set, '67 Ludwigs.

The plan is now for these drums to be at the jam Wed. at Chic's (Steve?). Anyone who wants to sit in on them... bring your own snare.

I'll have my ol' Vistalites out as well. I'll probably get some cool pics of the kit at the jam.

I'd try a coated Emporer on the top, as the Ambassador is a bit thin and lacks a low end crack I like in a snare, but that is just me.

Nice pics by the way. I'm still in search of "my" snare since my Tama Rosewood got ripped off. The Black Panther I picked up recently is ok, but just lacks the roundness.

Yeah, might try some new heads. Experiment with the sound a little.

Your Tama Rosewood got ripped off? Ouch!!

Speeking of Tama, have you seen their new WARLORD series? (no relation):lmao:
